15 spots in Charlotte to get a margarita

In honor of National Margarita Day (Feb. 22), we’ve rounded up 15 places where you can get a margarita to celebrate.

Note: This isn’t an exhaustive list, and it’s not in any order. If you’re looking to venture out, a few other spots with great margaritas include White Duck Taco, Cantina 1511, Monterrey Mexican Restaurant and Azteca.

Condado Tacos

Options: With four house margaritas plus specialty margaritas, Condado offers something for every tequila lover. If you can’t decide, go for their house flight — it includes any three flavored mini house margs.

Location: 1536 Camden Road

El Thrifty

Options: Keep it classic with El Thrifty’s house margarita ($10) or opt for the Thrifty Punch Margarita ($10) with Lunazul Blanco, Jarritos fruit punch soda, orange, lime and pineapple.

Location: 1115 N Brevard St.

Options: Try the house margarita made with gold tequila, triple sec and a house-made ginger-citrus in a glass ($8) or a pitcher ($29).

Location: 1500 W Morehead St.

Options: Go with the Magic Mike ($10) for a house marg, or go try one of their specialty margs, like the Prison Love ($12) made with Hornitos Reposado, Triple Sec, agave, lime juice and topped with red wine.

Location: 715 Providence Road

Options: The 12 margaritas on the menu fall into three categories: classic lime, sweet & fruity and top-shelf.

For a classic marg that won’t hurt your wallet, go with El Cheapo ($8) or mix it up with the Azularita ($10) it’s blue and made with Sauza Extra Gold Tequila, Blue Curacao, Pineapple juice and house mix.

Options: They’ve got five margaritas on the menu to choose from, including their version of a classic, plus fancier options like the Mezcal Margarita and the Cranberry Ginger Margarita.

Location: 1301 East Blvd.

Taco Mama

Options: Sip on 13+ margarita options in a 16oz-cup or in a pitcher. Flavors range from pomegranate ($10/$25) to jalapeño ($10/$25) to cucumber ($9/22).

Location: 2452 Park Road 

Three Amigos

Options: The house margarita made with El Jimador Blanco, Triple Sec and fresh-squeezed citrus in a single ($8.95) or double ($13.95). You can also purchase a half gallon of marg mix to make at home for $15.

Location: 2917 Central Ave. 

Paco’s Tacos and Tequila

Options: Try one of their two best sellers: the Margarita with No Name ($10) with El Jimador Blanco 100% blue agave tequila, fresh juices and house sour, or the Pineapple Mint Margarita ($11), with pineapple and mint-infused Lunazul Blanco, house sour and pineapple juice shaken with mint leaves and topped with Sprite.

For $1, you can try any marg with their infused tequilas, like three-pepper, blueberry or apple-cinnamon.

Location: 6401 Carnegie Blvd.

Options: Puttery offers a house margarita called The Standoff. It’s made with Patron Silver tequila, Patron Citronge, Ancho chili, pineapple and lime.

Location: 210 Rampart St.

Options: Bargarita in NoDa boasts six craft cocktails on its menu, and the Champagne Lemonade Margarita ($10) caught our eye. It’s made with Blanco tequila, pink lemonade, lime juice and champagne.

Location: 3221 N Davidson St.

Options: Of their seven margarita options, we recommend The O.G. ($10) if you’re looking for a classic marg. If you’re looking to venture out, try The Matador ($12) with El Jimador Blanco, pineapple, lime and cilantro.

Location: 101 W Worthington Ave (South End); 4223 Providence Road (Providence Park)

Spindle Bar


Options: Spindle Bar has a house margarita ($12) that’s made with Blanco tequila, lime, agave and sea salt — add prickly pear or mezcal float for $1.

Location: 1115 N Brevard St (Optimist Hall)

Options: It’s called The Kick-Ass Margarita, and it’s made with Lunazul premium blanco tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice and agave nectar. Get it on the rocks or frozen.

Location: 1601 E Woodlawn Road (Park Road Shopping Center) with two additional locations in South End and Optimist Hall.

Options: Choose between the Amigos Marg with house tequila, Triple Sec and lime or the Sabor Marg with 1800 Silver, Gran Marnier and lime. Get the Amigos Marg for $6 on Saturdays.

Location: 3205 N Davidson St (NoDa) with multiple Charlotte-area locations including South End, Plaza Midwood, Uptown, University, South Park, Elizabeth, Ballantyne, Elizabeth and Steele Creek.
