Six Flags buys ArieForce One, but its new home is a mystery

Catch up quick: The Aug. 2 closure of the tiny amusement park left a big question mark on the future of the coaster, which enthusiasts ranked the eighth best in the world.

• Coaster fans flocked to the Fayetteville attraction to take one more ride (or dozens more rides) on ArieForce One.

What they're saying: "Seeing ArieForce One preserved and finding a new home with Six Flags means a great deal to me and my family," John Arie Jr., CEO of Fun Spot America, said in a statement. The coaster is named in honor of his father, who started the amusement park company.

• "Its story isn't ending, it's beginning a new chapter, and we are excited that future generations will get to experience ArieForce One."

Zoom in: Six Flags plans to keep the ArieForce One name, according to the company's announcement.

Yes, but: We don't know which of Six Flags' roughly 20 amusement parks will become the new home of ArieForce One. The company did not disclose a purchase price.

What's next: Six Flags says the coaster will be "reassembled and enhanced" at its new home for the 2028 or 2029 season.
