Another tenant has signed a lease to open in Centennial Yards, the $5 billion mixed-use development transforming Downtown Atlanta.
Why it matters: The Irish Exit's expansion to Atlanta will be its first location outside of New York City since opening in 2023.
The latest: The bar will operate in 4,735 square feet of space in Centennial Yards' Entertainment District.
- It's the latest in a series of new lease agreements for the 50-acre redevelopment site, including Cosm, Shake Shack, 26 Thai, Live Nation and Khao Thai Isan.
What they're saying: Jack McGarry, co-founder and managing partner of The Dead Rabbit Group, which owns and operates The Irish Exit, said the team is excited to introduce the pub to Atlanta.
- "Our mission has always been to showcase modern Irish culture and the Ireland of today — one that honors its roots while looking forward — and Atlanta's Centennial Yards gives us the perfect platform to share that spirit with new guests," he said in a press release.
Context: The Irish Exit's announcement comes weeks after Centennial Yards opened the 19-story, 292-room Hotel Phoenix and months after the debut of The Mitchell, a 302-unit luxury residential development.
The big picture: Once completed, Centennial Yards will stretch from South Downtown to Castleberry Hill, filling a hole in the heart of Downtown that is currently a sea of parking lots and railroad tracks next to State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
What we're watching: Whether the pub, as well as other planned restaurants, will open in time for next year's FIFA World Cup.
- Centennial Yards CEO Brian McGowan previously told Axios he hopes the bulk of the Entertainment District will be constructed before the games come to Atlanta.
