New luxury hotel opens at Centennial Yards in Atlanta

The latest: The 19-story, 292-room hotel opened Monday to guests. Rates start at $267 per night for one guests, depending on day of the week.

• Guests can also dine at Zephyr, Hotel Phoenix's restaurant that will serve a French-Southern fusion cuisine, and grab drinks and light eats at Bar Z.

Zoom in: Other amenities include a fitness center, pool, terrace lounge and more than 15,000 square feet of event space.

Stating the obvious: Hotel Phoenix gets its name from the mythological creature that represents Atlanta's rebirth after Union troops, led by General William T. Sherman, torched the railroad town that served as the Confederacy's manufacturing, medical and logistics hub.

• The first residential development, Lofts at Centennial Yards South, includes 162 units — 25 of which are affordable units — above Wild Leap brewery.

Once completed, Centennial Yards will stretch from South Downtown to Castleberry Hill, filling a hole in the heart of Downtown that is currently a sea of parking lots and railroad tracks adjacent to State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

• The development also includes a 500,000-square-foot entertainment district, the bulk of which Centennial Yards CEO Brian McGowan previously told Axios he hopes will be constructed ahead of next year's World Cup.

• In March, LiveNation announced it will anchor a midsize 5,300-seat venue expected to open in 2027 in the district.
• Along with the venue, the district will include COSM, a 70,000-square-foot immersive experience (like a scaled-down Las Vegas Sphere, with dinner and drinks) and a two-story retail building.
• Restaurants Shake Shack and Khao Thai Isan have also signed leases to open within Centennial Yard boundaries.
