Superica workers want better wages and conditions at Krog Street Market

Front-of-house workers at Superica in Krog Street Market say they are "tired of being hot, underpaid and overworked" and want better wages and conditions at the popular Inman Park restaurant.

Driving the news: Late last week, Superica employees delivered a demand letter to management calling for at least a $15 base wage plus tips, clearer job roles, reimbursement for uniforms and other changes.

Zoom in: In a video released by the Union of Southern Service Workers, two employees at the Ford Fry restaurant said server assistants start out at $2.13 an hour in addition to tips, which they say are too inconsistent and unreliable.

What they're saying: "The only time I ever had vertigo was at this location when it was really hot," one unidentified worker said in the video by USSW, which has helped Waffle House and other service workers organize. "And my manager said it was probably because of the heat."

Caveat: The employee said an HVAC technician did visit the location the day before the video but "it's almost the end of the summer, so it's kind of like, too little, too late."

Context: Part of chef Ford Fry's Rocket Farm Restaurants, Superica launched at Krog Street Market and has expanded to additional locations in metro Atlanta and nearby states.

The other side: A spokesperson for Rocket Farm Restaurants did not return Axios' requests for comment.
