Uber jumps into the ATL airport shuttle game

Uber will offer $10 shuttle rides from Midtown and Downtown to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Why it matters: The new service is more expensive than a MARTA ticket but cheaper than an Uber ride to the world's busiest airport.

How it works: Starting next month, the company will operate 14-person shuttles every 30 minutes from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week.

Riders select the option in the app and reserve their spot. Surge pricing does not apply to the rides.

What you pay: One-way trips to and from the airport will cost $10 during the introductory period. After that, the price goes up to $18.50 (taxes included).

Context: Starting today, Uber becomes Delta Air Lines' rideshare and delivery partner, meaning that your scooter rides home and the late-night pizza orders can start earning you SkyMiles.

What's next: People who link their accounts on the app will receive early information about routes and launch dates.
