Homes listed over $1 million continue to take up a growing share of the market in Atlanta, data from Redfin shows.
Why it matters: Wealthy people are the ones who can play in this market.
By the numbers: The share of homes listed above one million dollars in the Atlanta area rose slightly from 5.8% in 2023 to 5.9% in 2024, Redfin found.
- There were 5,215 homes in the area listed for over $1 million last year.
The intrigue: Million-dollar-plus listings grew by nearly 3 percentage points since 2020 when they made up just 3% of the market.
Zoom in: One multi-million dollar home that hit the market last year was a "Haunted Mansion"-inspired residence built by a former Disney theme park contractor that sold for $2.2 million in Duluth.
- The intrigue: Mark Hurt, whose dad built exhibits for natural history museums, paid so much attention to detail on the nearly 10,000 square-foot home he even hired the same foundry that worked on Disney's mansion for the porch's ironwork, Thomas previously reported.
The big picture: Million-dollar homes grew 1 percentage point to 9.3% in 2024 from 2023 nationwide, Redfin found.
- Median home prices have also nearly doubled over the last decade.
