Atlanta's trail network plan wants your feedback

Driving the news: On Thursday, the PATH Foundation and Atlanta's Parks and Recreation Department are holding a virtual public meeting to help craft the project list for Trails ATL, the citywide trail plan.

• The meeting focuses on paths proposed for southeast Atlanta. Previous presentations covered west and north Atlanta.

State of play: City officials will further evaluate the projects and determine what's possible to construct within the next 10 years.

• Early next year, they will present an "implementation plan" with cost estimates and potential funding sources.
• Once adopted, Trails ATL would create a "conveyor belt" where "there is always a project in one phase of implementation: design, permitting, construction."

Zoom in: The project presentations have before-and-after photos and renderings of preliminary projects and ideas.

• They include remaking the backside of a big-box development along Metropolitan Parkway into a commercial node and community space as part of the proposed Airport Trail.

Fun fact: Atlantans are giddy about greenways and off-street sidepaths, according to the first round survey (PDF). Unprotected bike lanes and painted road markings are lowest on their wishlists, in that order.
