MARTA trains to skip Brookhaven station for platform repairs

Starting Monday, MARTA trains will temporarily not stop at the Brookhaven Station to accommodate repairs on the rail platform.

Why it matters: If catching the train at Brookhaven is your primary way of getting around, you're going to have to use another rail station, catch the bus or find an alternative mode of transportation.

Driving the news: The skip will allow MARTA to install new flooring, new tactile warning strips on the edge of the platform and new joint benches and trash cans.

MARTA expects stops at the Brookhaven station to resume in six weeks.

How it works: Since the project only involves platform work, the Gold Line serving the station will only travel through the station — not pick up or drop off passengers.

Bus routes 8, 25, 47 and 110 serving the station will not be affected.
A shuttle service will be offered at Brookhaven, going south to the Lenox Station and north to the Chamblee Station.

Zoom in: The Brookhaven parking lot will still be open. But MARTA advises people who normally park and ride the train to consider using nearby stations such as Chamblee, Doraville and Lenox.

If you walk to Brookhaven or transfer from the bus, the shuttles will take you to either Chamblee or Lenox where you can catch the train.
MARTA notes you should allow yourself 15 additional minutes when using the shuttles.
