The Atlanta Falcons survived their first major test of the season in Week 2 but now an even larger one looms.
Driving the news: The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are coming to Atlanta for a Sunday Night Football showdown — the Falcons' first since 2019.
Catch up quick: Atlanta is trying to build off one of their most thrilling comebacks in recent history. With 1:56 left in their Monday night game against the Eagles, the Falcons had a less than 3% chance of winning.
- And they did. Wow.
Between the lines: Matching up against the Chiefs and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a different story. Kansas City is trying to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champs.
- Atlanta is 3-7 all time against KC and lost their only game versus Mahomes. Sunday's game will also mark his first time playing in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
What we're watching: Whether Taylor Swift makes the trip to support her lover and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
- The pop star has been to both games this year, though they were each played at Arrowhead Stadium, but she attended about a dozen last year.
Who do the odds favor: The Chiefs by about four points. A story the Falcons have heard before.
Burnt ends: Georgia Tech could sneak back into the top 25 if they beat No. 19 Louisville on the road Saturday. Kick off is at 3:30pm.
- Georgia Southern is off to face the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford at 7:45pm. The Rebels are 36 point favorites.
- UGA, which slipped to No. 2, is off this week after a squeaking by Kentucky to win 13-12. This is a well-timed break as they gear up to face the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road.
- Georgia State is idle after a big win against Vanderbilt and Mercer looks to stay undefeated in a 6pm home game against The Citadel.
