Some metro Atlanta students resume classes next week, but there's still time to get school supplies.
Follow the money: A 2023 survey from the National Retail Foundation found that families spent an average of $890 on back-to-school supplies last year, $25 more than the previous year, Axios' Kelly Tyko reports.
- College families reportedly spend $1,366 per student, up from $1,199 the prior year.
- The report estimates back-to-school and back-to-college spending combined will total $189.7 billion in 2028.
