Atlanta Falcons have the saddest fans in the NFL

A new analysis names the NFL team with the happiest fanbase, and it is not the Atlanta Falcons.

Why it matters: Sportsbook Review examined over 20,000 selfies taken across all 32 NFL stadiums and used AI facial recognition technology to determine which emotions are being expressed in those photos.

The study found that almost 10% of Falcons' fan selfies showed sorrow, more than any other team in the league.

What they're saying: "Atlanta Falcons fans will be the first (and second, and third, and so on, until the literal end of time) to say that they are, in fact, the saddest in the NFL," according to Sportsbook Review.

Yes, but: Sportsbook Review writes that "Falcons supporters have endured more than their share of tough-to-swallow outcomes and major coaching malpractice over the past few years, though better times could be ahead with a new coach in the fold."

What's next: The Falcons will play their first preseason game under new head coach Raheem Morris and new quarterback Kirk Cousins against the Dolphins in Miami on Aug. 9.

They'll kick off the regular season on Sept. 8 when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
