New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard is set to become the first transgender Olympian after qualifying for this summer's Tokyo Games.
The state of play: Hubbard, 43, has effectively been guaranteed a spot in the women's super heavyweight category after the IOC amended qualifying rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that Yankees and Mets baseball games will reopen regular seating for fully vaccinated people starting May 19, and will offer free tickets to those who choose to get a vaccine at the game.
Details: Cuomo said that unvaccinated people will also be welcome at the games, but they will be in a different section where spectators will be seated 6 feet apart with masks. The unvaccinated sections will operate at 33% capacity.
