Tampa, St. Pete MLK parade road closures: What to know

Thousands of people are expected to attend Martin Luther King Jr. Day parades on Monday in East Tampa and downtown St. Petersburg.
- Road closures are sure to snarl traffic. Here's what to know:
Tampa
The parade starts at noon Monday at East 21st Avenue and North 15th Street. It ends at North 22nd Street and East Osborne Avenue.

These roads will be closed from 6am to 6pm, according to the city:
- North 15th Street between East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East 17th Avenue.
- North Avenida Republica De Cuba/North 14th Street between East 21st Avenue and East 17th Avenue.
- East 21st Avenue between North 11th Street and North 21st Street.
- East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between North Nebraska Avenue and North 22nd Street.
- North 22nd Street between East Hillsborough Avenue and East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
St. Pete
The parade begins at 11am on Monday and travels east to west on First Avenue South.

These roads will be closed starting at 8am for parade setup, per the city:
- Central Avenue, from Bayshore Drive to Beach Drive.
- First Avenue South, from Third Street South to Bayshore Drive Southeast. Third Street will remain open until about 10:30am.
- Bayshore Drive Southeast from Central Avenue to Fifth Avenue South.
- First Street from First Avenue South to Fourth Avenue South.
These roads will be closed starting at 10:30am for the parade:
- First Avenue South, from Third Street South to 16th Street South.
- 16th Street South from Central Avenue to Fifth Avenue South.
- First Avenue South, from 16th Street South to 20th Street South.
- Third Avenue South, from 16th Street South to 19th Street South.
