4 ways to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. in Tampa Bay

MLK Jr. Day of Service: The nonprofit Friends of Ridgecrest is organizing a volunteer event this Saturday. Activities include a paint project at the Tasker Beal Jr. Service Center and a cleanup along 119th Street.

• There will also be an annual breakfast on Monday at 8am in the Shiloh MBC Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration: The city of Clearwater and its local NAACP chapter are hosting their annual celebration on Monday at the North Greenwood Recreation Center, with a breakfast from 8 to 9am, followed by speeches from 9 to 11am and a march afterward.

MLK The Power of a Dream Parade Weekend Celebration: There is a full slate of MLK events taking place this weekend in Downtown St. Pete, with a banquet on Friday, followed by a band showcase on Sunday and concluding with a parade on Monday along First Avenue South from 11am to 2pm.

City of Tampa's Martin Luther King Parade: The annual celebration, complete with parade floats and marching bands, takes place Monday at noon, traveling along 22nd Street and Osborne to 15th and 21st.
