A rare weekend of sweater weather ahead for Tampa Bay

State of play: Starting today and lasting through the weekend, expect low temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s and highs in the upper 60s and low 70s, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). 

• Any rain in the forecast happened Wednesday, so it'll be nothing but sunshine, NWS Tampa Bay meteorologist Ross Giarratana told Axios.

Even more good news: Conditions look promising for a quiet last nine days of hurricane season, Giarratana said. (Kathryn here. Don't worry — I knocked on wood at this point in our interview.)

How it works: A strong cold front off the East Coast moved through Florida yesterday, followed by a cooler-air high-pressure system that's keeping our region chilled out through the weekend.

Fun fact: Temperatures so far this month have been about 7 degrees warmer than the average November, Giarratana said. But this weekend's temperatures will actually be lower than normal.

• The average daily high for this time of year is around 77-78 degrees. 

What's next: It'll start to warm back up Sunday and into Thanksgiving week.
