We're rolling out another poll, this one to gauge your support for or opposition to the Rays stadium and the Historic Gas Plant District redevelopment plan.

Why it matters: A chunk of the ballpark's $1.3 billion price tag will come from your tax dollars. The plan calls for a $600 million public investment split between St. Petersburg and Pinellas County.

  • Including interest on debt, the taxpayer-funded contribution could hit nearly $1.3 billion, the Tampa Bay Times reported last year.
  • Plus, the plan calls for the city to spend up to $130 million more for infrastructure around the stadium as part of the Historic Gas Plant District redevelopment.

Flashback: St. Petersburg City Council members in November voted against pursuing a straw poll to gauge public opinion, per the Times.

  • A League of Women Voters' survey of 800 registered voters in St. Pete found that an overwhelming majority of respondents wanted to see the city and county negotiate a better deal.

What do you think?

  • Vote below, and send any additional thoughts or comments to [email protected]. We'll feature the results in a future newsletter.
