The Tampa Bay Rays called up top prospect Wander Franco from the Durham Bulls for Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox. (Watch him get the news — it's touching.)

Why it matters: Baseball geeks have been waiting for this moment for a few years. Franco is ... really, really good.

What they're saying ...

  • The 20-year-old ballplayer is "unlike any other prospect in the sport," writes Michael Baumann in The Ringer. "Wander Francos don’t come along every day."
  • FanGraphs’ Eric Longenhagen called Franco "the best prospect on the planet, and the best I’ve evaluated."
  • "The dude is a phenom, a force of nature, as good of a prospect as the game has seen in years," writes Jeff Mintz on FoxSports.com. "He is a very good defensive shortstop with crisp hands and an above-average arm. But the true magnificence comes at the plate."
