Los Tios to open first San Antonio location this fall

Los Tios, a longtime Houston Tex-Mex restaurant, is eyeing a fall opening in Alamo Heights.

Why it matters: Los Tios announced plans in 2024 to take over the former La Madeleine space on Broadway, but details about its opening have been sparse until now.

Flashback: Los Tios has been a Houston-area staple since the 1970s and recently expanded to Fredericksburg.

The Alamo Heights restaurant will be its first San Antonio location.

Dig in: The menu features Tex-Mex classics like fajitas, combination plates and tacos, plus its signature puffy queso — a crispy tortilla shell topped with queso and, optionally, a protein.

And, of course, frozen margaritas.

The vibe: Los Tios aims for the comfortable, approachable feel of a family kitchen.

What's next: A grand opening date hasn't been announced. Los Tios will serve customers 11am–9pm Sunday–Wednesday and 11am–10pm Thursday–Saturday.
