The first half of 2026 is in the rearview, but San Antonio still has plenty of restaurant openings on deck.
Why it matters: Food is central to San Antonio's identity, and each new restaurant adds another layer to the city's evolving culinary culture.
Here are some of the restaurants we're keeping an eye on:
Amar, a seafood-forward Mexican restaurant and cantina from Carlos and Clarece Clavijo in the Oxbow Building near Pearl, is expected to open by the end of August.
- "We want to be the cantina for Pearl. You can come here, stay for an hour, stay for four hours. We just want you to feel comfortable at our space," spokesperson Hugo Hernandez tells Axios.
🇮🇹 Rosso, an Italian steakhouse, is expected to open later this year in the former Cured space. The restaurant marks the debut concept from La Unión Hospitality, a new venture led by chefs Rico Torres, Gabe Erales and André Natera.
- "It's not often that three chefs this decorated choose to build something together instead of separately," Ryan Howard, managing director of Potluck, the hospitality and restaurant development group at Pearl, said of Rosso in a statement.
- "That fact alone speaks as much about who they are as people as it does about the food."
🍷 Sixty Vines, a wine-country-inspired restaurant known for its 60 wines on tap, opens Aug. 10 at The Shops at La Cantera.
🇫🇷 Seaspice Rooftop Club is expected to open this summer, bringing French Riviera-inspired dining to the Jefferson Building. The concept comes from the Gusto Group, the team behind Toro Kitchen & Bar, Amelia Social Lounge and more.
🤠 Moonshine Off Grayson, a honky-tonk-themed bar, opened its doors last month near Stout House Grayson.
🍽️ Vecino, a new concept from the team behind the beloved Bilia Eatery, is taking over the former Candlelight PourHouse space on the St. Mary's Strip. An opening date has not been announced.
The bottom line: Your running list of places to try is about to get a little longer.
