San Antonio's housing market isn't as hot as it used to be, but it's warmer than last year.
Why it matters: We can't be at the top of every list, apparently.
The big picture: Zillow's annual ranking forecasts the most competitive housing markets for buyers. Markets at the top of the list are largely "starved for housing inventory," the real estate platform tells Axios.
- These regions tend to be relatively affordable with strong job and wage growth.
Zoom in: San Antonio ranks No. 36 out of 50 on Zillow's list for 2025, up 13 spots from last year.
Yes, but: In 2023, we ranked No. 13.
The intrigue: Buffalo is No. 1 again, and several metros dropped significantly or fell off the list entirely between the 2024 and 2025 rankings, Zillow senior economist Orphe Divounguy tells Axios.
The bottom line: Affordability and inventory are the name of the game.
