Holidays on Houston Street returning to San Antonio

Holidays on Houston Street will return to downtown San Antonio for a second year beginning in November.

Why it matters: Last year's inaugural event expanded holiday cheer beyond the River Walk — and this year promises even more bright lights.

Zoom in: The festivities will kick off Nov. 29 and run through Jan. 2 along five blocks of Houston Street from Broadway to Legacy Park.

Dec. 13-15 will bring extra programming, like the Christkindl-style market San Antonians saw last year.

By the numbers: Expect nearly 400,000 mini-LED lights to illuminate about 80 trees.

There will be special lighting at street intersections and oversized ornaments and wreaths on lampposts.

New this year: The San Antonio Coffee Festival will make a special holiday appearance on Dec. 7, with coffee, tea, cider and hot chocolate to sip on while you take a cozy stroll.

The bottom line: Downtown is growing more festive. Holiday lovers won't want to miss this one.
