Tecovas opening new Alamo Heights store on Broadway

Zoom in: The store at 5300 Broadway will open Oct. 2.

• It will celebrate with grand opening events Oct. 4-6. There will be live music, complimentary drinks and freebies for the first 50 customers.

Zoom out: Tecovas' only other San Antonio store is at La Cantera, the outdoor shopping mall known for its array of high-end options.

• A store in Alamo Heights makes the Western fashions more accessible to customers closer to downtown.

The big picture: South of Alamo Heights, Broadway is attracting other chain locations.

• The Austin-based P. Terry's opened an outpost on Broadway in May, and the Phoenix-based Postino opened a wine cafe on the corridor in June.

State of play: Tecovas announced late last month it's expanding into the wholesale market and extending its reach to retail partners. Stores in Round Top and Wimberley will sell Tecovas.

• The Alamo Heights location is one of 11 new stores for the company in 2024.

What's next: Tecovas is known for its cowboy boots, and a single pair starts in the low hundreds.

• But it intends to become a high-end Western wear lifestyle brand by growing its apparel sales.
