Upcoming San Antonio dessert bar Nicosi will be an intimate experience

Details for Nicosi, the upcoming dessert bar at the new Pullman Market at Pearl, are nearly fully baked.
The latest: The intimate, 20-seat dining experience is expected to open June 26.
- Executive chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph will lead the concept alongside chef de cuisine Karla Espinosa.
- Nicosi is the third restaurant to open at the destination — billed as the largest culinary market in the Southwest — following Mezquite and Fife and Farro.
How it works: The dessert-tasting menu will be four bites and four dishes, changing every three months.
- Each bite and dish on the menu will showcase one of the four flavor profiles — acid, umami, bitter and sweet — and will pair with a beverage (non-alcoholic options available).
- Nicosi will not reveal menu details to cultivate an element of surprise. There is a no-phone policy to encourage connection with the chefs and other guests.
- The seating area faces the kitchen to facilitate direct dialogue with the chef, inspired by intimate experiences such as Omakase or speakeasy cocktail bars.
What they're saying: "Nicosi will be a dessert bar unlike any of its kind as we explore and push the boundaries on the thresholds of acid, umami, bitter and sweet in desserts," Bristol-Joseph said in a statement.
If you go: Snag a reservation on OpenTable. Nicosi will be open Wednesday-Sunday with seatings at 5:30pm and 8pm.
- The cost is $100 for non-alcoholic pairings or $120 with alcoholic beverages.
What's next: Isidore, an elevated, reservations-only dining experience, is slated to open later in the summer.
