Richmond's beloved Tacky Lights holiday tradition has a spooky-season counterpart.
State of play: Richmonders can take guided tours of the city's most over-the-top Halloween decorations — no Christmas lights required.
Where to ride:
👻 Discover Richmond Tours offers two-hour, customizable and BYOB bus tours of Richmond's creepiest and most creative Halloween displays.
- Public tours run Saturdays and Sundays at 5pm and 8pm, with private tours available on weekday evenings. Public tickets start at $35. Private tours start at $300 for up to 14.
🧛 RVA TukTuk offers private, 90-minute tours of decorated homes along Hanover Avenue, Oregon Hill, the Fan or in Church Hill — just pick your preferred tour.
- The Tuk Tuks have heated seats, allow adult beverages and seat up to six passengers each. Prices vary by date and party size, per an Axios review.
🎃 DIY it. If you prefer to explore on your own, you can find decked-out homes on the Halloween House Tour Facebook page and create your own, and find neighborhood-specific maps for Church Hill, Spooky Heights RVA (that's Woodland Heights the rest of the year).
The bottom line: Richmonders no longer need to wait until Christmas to go tacky.
