Shyndigz now sells cakes 24/7 in Richmond

Richmonders finally have 24/7 access to Shyndigz, just not from the long-awaited dessert vending machine that broke months ago on opening day.

Why it matters: If you have $50, you can now buy an entire cake from the Fan District bakery at 3am.

Driving the news: Shyndigz opened its 18 refrigerated self-serve lockers on Friday.

Caveat: Don't go expecting cake slices. It's whole cakes and pies only until the vending machine makes a comeback, which the bakery teased is coming "soon."

How it works: Pull into the parking lot at 1912 W. Cary St. and head to the lockers inside the white structure on the right.

Then scan a QR code, enter your phone number and choose from the menu options.
Tuesday's options included: spotted cow, six oatmeal cream pies, Key Lime pie, gluten-free pumpkin Oreo and salted chocolate caramel ($35.99-$49.99).
There's even a $32 flower arrangement.

To pick it up: Enter the provided code and watch the corresponding locker magically open. Try not to drop the cake.

What we're watching: For a vending machine opening date.

Before it glitched in June, the bakery said it'd have throwback flavors and exclusive cake slices you can't get anywhere else, like Thin Mint.
