Celebs packed the Henrico Sports & Events Center over the weekend for a basketball tournament watched by top college and NBA scouts.
Why it matters: Actors Will Ferrell and Taye Diggs came to town, Henrico Sports Center executive director Dennis Bickmeier tells Axios.
- Their sons are among the country's top high school basketball players competing this weekend.
- Basketball stars Tyrese Haliburton and Ralph Sampson were also spotted, Bickmeier adds.
State of play: The NXTPRO 16 Boys event ran Thursday-Sunday and brought to the Richmond suburbs hundreds of college and pro recruiters and scouts to watch some of the nation's best high school boys basketball teams, per a news release.
- Axel Ferrell and Walker Diggs play for different schools around L.A.
Fun fact: Ferrell told reporters last week at the premiere of his new Netflix series "The Hawk" that his youngest son was missing the premiere because he was "dunking on people in Richmond."
- His two elder sons were there, though, trash-talking their dad's basketball skills to Entertainment Weekly.
- And Diggs told reporters in the spring that his son wakes at 4am to practice basketball.
What we're watching: This was the second year Henrico hosted the live recruiting event, so more celebs with baller sons could be in town next year.
