Bar Buoy to replace Brenner Pass with crab cakes and crushes

Driving the news: Chef Brittanny Anderson, a two-time James Beard semifinalist and "Top Chef" alum, announced her latest venture on social media over the weekend.

• Anderson, who also owns Brenner Pass, wrote that with Bar Buoy, she's returning to her roots in Virginia's Northern Neck.
• The interior, designed by Studio Tarea, will be inspired by a gas station Anderson's great-grandma Dora ran in Westmoreland County.

Fun fact: Studio Tarea also designed Pink Room in Church Hill, an aesthetically all-pink cocktail bar where the bar is in a kitchen and the restaurant is literally in a pink room.

What to expect: Anderson wrote that Bar Buoy will have boat drinks, fancy orange crushes, buttered popcorn-flavored rum and cokes and non-alcoholic options.

• As for food, watch out for sandwiches, fried fish plates, crab cakes and "all the shellfish your heart could desire."

What they're saying: "I truly feel like it's taken me 43 years to find myself as a chef and it turns out I just want to make crabcakes," Anderson joked in her post.

What's next: Brenner Pass' last day is Aug. 30, but Anderson wrote that people will be able to visit Bar Buoy next month (and catch some sneak peeks of the new space on Black Lodge's Instagram).
