Come for the cocktails, stay for the aesthetic. Photo: Sabrina Moreno/Axios
Sabrina here. It took me nearly two years, but I finally made it to Emerald Lounge in Church Hill.
Why it matters: I couldn't go and not come back with recommendations.
The big picture: Karri and I went recently with some Axios colleagues and took up the wraparound booth in the back.
My first rec: Sit there if you can.
Second: Go from 5-7pm for their happy hour menu, which includes $6 mini frozen drinks and six cocktails for $7 each.
Third: Get the caipirinha, a Brazilian drink made with cachaça, lime and sugar.
Yes, but: Don't forget their extensive cocktail menu, including "Admiral Vernon's Grog" ($20), made with four types of rum and three different liqueurs.
Food-wise, we loved:
The fried pork dumplings with sweet chili, $12.
The crispy mountain of fried mushrooms with Szechuan spice and scallion dip, $13.
Emerald fries with Dill Old Bay and a garlic aioli (could eat these all day), $8.
