🌮 Tito's Taqueria & Bar opened earlier this week at 733 W. Cary St. near VCU.

The taco bar is full of whimsy and heavy on the fun.

  • Tableside Trompo (the big stick of meat) is available, plus tequila flights served out of a small airplane, a hot pink cocktail called La Barbie, at least one cocktail served in a mini bathtub — complete with tiny rubber ducky — and build-your-own ice cream sundaes out of a mini ice cream cart.

There are more than a dozen taco options, served up in threes starting at $10.95. Also on the menu, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas and other traditional entrees.

  • Open daily for lunch and dinner.

ğŸŽ¶ The Foundation, a live entertainment spot serving cocktails and small plates, is hosting a soft opening party on Saturday from 4-8pm.

Capacity will be limited for the soft opening, but the official opening is Wednesday, so there will be plenty of less exclusive chances to check it out.

  • Future nightly shows will include jazz, blues and comedy, the Times-Dispatch reported last year.

Coming soon:

🍩 The Treat Shop's third Richmond-area location should open this month at 6501 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield.

  • True to its name, the shop serves ice cream, housemade doughnuts, funnel cakes, cotton candy, fried snickers, plus corn dogs, hot dogs, BBQ and other fair-type food you wish you could eat all year long.

🍨 Davvero Gelato, a vegan gelato shop, is in the works for Lakeside, at 6931 Lakeside Ave.

  • The shop should open by July.
