An all-star cooking collab comes to Raleigh

Zoom in: The chefs are not strangers; they cooked together over a decade ago at Spice Street, a former Giorgios Bakatsias restaurant in Chapel Hill.

• "I've known Ricky for many years," Rahman said in the news release, describing him as a brother, and someone "[whose] generosity, humility and unwavering belief that food is one of the purest expressions of love have shaped the way I think about cooking and hospitality."

Context: Rahman opened Peregrine last year in Raleigh. It was a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in the James Beard Awards.

• The upcoming meal is the second in Rahman's Ember Series, pop-up dinners he does outdoors over a wood fire with a guest chef.

Driving the news: Moore is the award-winning chef behind Saltbox Seafood Joint in Durham.

• He is re-releasing his cookbook this fall with eight new recipes. The meal in August will serve as a preview of sorts.
