After already filing plans for a 55+ apartment complex, the prolific developer Kane Realty is giving more insight into its plans for an expanded North Hills.
Why it matters: Earlier this year, Kane paid $72 million for 28 acres of land along Navaho Drive — a large purchase that expands its North Hills holdings from Six Forks Road to Wake Forest Road.
That section — called the North Hills Innovation District — will be home to six new buildings in the coming years, according to Kane.
Zoom in: Here's what the Raleigh developer is proposing in its next phase:
A 20-story apartment tower called the Vesper. The building will have around 250 apartments and a 20th-floor rooftop deck.
A 7-story residential building with 387 apartments and retail space also on Navaho Drive. That project is called The Merit.
Additionally, Kane says it has begun conceptual planning on a new office building in the area, after finding recent success in the office market. If it is built, it would be the only office tower under construction in the Triangle.
Between the lines: Kane also plans major infrastructure upgrades tied to the project, including:
A new greenway connection that could eventually link into Raleigh's broader greenway network.
An extension of Church at North Hills Street to Navaho Drive via a new pedestrian and vehicle bridge.
Kane said it is working with the city of Raleigh to ensure the road expansion works with the city's planned greenway extensions and multi-modal bridge crossing I-440.
