Watts & Ward co-owner to open new cocktail bar

Patrick Shanahan, a local artist who co-owns the bar Watts & Ward and the new restaurant Peregrine, will open a new cocktail bar this fall.

Why it matters: The new bar, called Capulet Cocktail Club, is the latest tenant to join the Exchange Raleigh development — one of the largest real estate projects in the region — being built by Dewitt Carolinas in the midtown area.

• It's a development that Shanahan already has plenty of experience with, after opening Peregrine there with chef Saif Rahman there in the spring.

Zoom in: The 2,700-square-foot bar is being billed as an Italian-inspired cocktail club favoring European spirits.

• The bar will feature an indoor seating area as well as an outdoor seating area inspired by the piazzas of Italy.
