Fresh off expanding the popular Oakwood Pizza Box to a second location, Anthony and Brett Guerra are opening their new wine bar, Saint-Pierre, in the Raleigh Iron Works today.
Why it matters: It's been a year of expansion for the Guerras, who have also opened a pizza restaurant in Charleston, and who may expand their restaurant business even further.
Driving the news: The Guerras are working with Scott Hardiman, a former sommelier at Umstead Hotel and Spa, to open the wine bar.
- Anthony Guerra told Axios that he wants to continue to partner with talented professionals in the Triangle food scene to launch new concepts.
What they're saying: Anthony said he wants Saint-Pierre to be the kind of wine bar that he and his wife, Brett, love to go to when they visit other cities.
- "I want it to be more all-evening party than a library for wines," he said.
- The wine list will be focused on Old World wine producers with a smaller curation of wines from California and other places.
Zoom in: One notable partnership at Saint-Pierre, however, will be that the food will come from the celebrated Kinston chef Vivian Howard, who has gained notoriety for her restaurant, The Chef and The Farmer, as well as for several PBS shows.
- Howard's meal service, Viv's Fridge, which deploys smart fridges across the state to serve meals, will build the food menu for Saint-Pierre — sans the fridge.
- The food service will launch later this year.
Location: Find Saint-Pierre at 1101 East Whitaker Mill Road, Raleigh
Hours: 2-10pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- Noon to 10pm, Friday through Sunday
