Oakwood Pizza Box is adding a second Raleigh location

Driving the news: Oakwood said Tuesday it will take over the former Capital Creations Gourmet Pizza space at 1842 Wake Forest Road north of downtown Raleigh.

• Capital Creations closed in 2023 after serving pizza for three decades — a type of longevity Guerra hopes to emulate.

State of play: Guerra said a second location will help with existing growing pains at the original Oakwood Pizza Box location at 610 N. Person St.

• "Oakwood is getting so busy that some guests are getting frustrated with us," Guerra said in a statement. "This is how we're solving the problem. There's not a lot of parking on Person Street. There's parking here."

Zoom in: The new Oakwood space will differ from the original location.

• It will be carry-out only instead of offering a few seating options, like the Person Street location.
• It also gives Guerra the opportunity to introduce a profit-sharing program for longtime staff members who have been working with him since opening in 2017.

What's next: Guerra's next venture, the wine bar Saint-Pierre, will open this summer at Raleigh Iron Works.

• The second Oakwood hasn't set a date yet, but the goal is this fall.
