Triangle counties continue to see a large influx of interest from out-of state homebuyers, according to new data from Realtor.com.
Why it matters: The Triangle continues to be one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and homes listed for sale in the region often attract out-of-state eyes online, according to the data.
Zoom in: A survey of the Realtor.com data shows that the Triangle's home listings are most popular with people currently living in the Northern Virginia suburbs, Atlanta and New York City.
Here's where the demand was coming from for each of the Triangle's counties:
Wake County: More than 68% of Wake County home listing views online came from outside of the county itself. The most popular sources of views were:
- Loudon County, Va. — 11.9% of views
- New York County — 9.7%
- Fulton County, Ga. — 7.3%
- Durham County — 3.6%
- Mecklenburg County — 3.4%
Durham County: More than 80% of online home listing views in Durham County were from people not already located in the county. The most popular source of views was:
- Wake County — 13.9% of views
- Loudon County, Va. — 8.7%
- New York County — 8.4%
- Fulton County, Ga. — 5.9%
- Orange County — 4.8%
Orange County: More than 87% of online views for Orange County homes came from out of the county.
- Durham County — 11.1% of views
- Loudon County, Va. — 9.8%
- Wake County — 9.7%
- New York County — 8.5%
- Fulton County, Ga. — 6.2%
Chatham County: Nearly 92% of searches for Chatham County homes is now coming from people who don't live in that county.
- Wake County — 14.6% of views
- Loudon County, Va. — 9.5%
- Fulton County, Ga. — 7.2%
- New York County — 7%
- Orange County — 4.1%
Johnston County: Almost 86% of searches for Johnston County homes is now coming from people who don't live in the county.
- Wake County — 19% of views
- New York County — 8.8%
- Loudon County, Va. — 8.8%
- Fulton County, Ga. — 7%
- Mecklenburg County — 2.3%
