The Bend Bar, an intimate new spot from the team behind Trophy Brewing and State of Beer named for its location on a curve on West Morgan Street, opens this Saturday, Dec. 21, at 4pm in downtown Raleigh.
Why it matters: The Bend Bar aims to be a neighborhood watering hole, complete with a communal table, spacious bar and sprawling deck.
- The bar will be housed in one of three renovated bungalows at 853 W. Morgan St. — and the owners plan to breathe new life into all the properties.
What to expect: The Bend Bar will have 10 taps featuring local craft beer, as well as wine, craft cocktails and other curated drinks.
Details: The focal point of the bar is a curved 16-seat bar "designed to resemble a stereo speaker," according to a statement from the owners.
- Outside, a deck connecting all three bungalows will be filled with tables, stadium seating and patio heaters.

What they're saying: "Becoming a part of the neighborhood is part of what we aim to do," Chris Powers, co-owner of Trophy Brewing, said in a statement.
Between the lines: In early 2025, a new location for State of Beer will open in another renovated bungalow on the West Morgan Street property.
- It'll have a larger kitchen and an expanded menu, per the owners.
- The original State of Beer at 401 Hillsborough St. will continue to operate through at least late 2026.
- Plans for the third bungalow are TBA.
Zoom out: It's been a busy year for the Trophy Brewing team. They're also renovating the former Electric Supply Co. building in the Five Points neighborhood to house what'll be the brewery's largest location.
- It's set to open in fall 2025.
If you go: The Bend Bar's house hours will be 4–10pm Monday–Thursday and 4pm–12am Friday–Sunday.
What's next: A grand opening for both The Bend Bar and the new State of Beer will be held sometime in early 2025.
