Deli to open in Raleigh Union Station

Raleigh's downtown train station will add its first restaurant later next month.
What to expect: Union Station Deli & Catering, which bills itself as a New York-style deli, will open in Raleigh Union Station on Aug. 15, Raleigh-based owner Rocky Top Catering said in a release.
- The menu will include bagels and sandwiches — with toppings like house-smoked pastrami, corned beef and chicken cutlets — as well as black-and-white cookies.
- Union Station Deli will initially open Monday through Friday from 6am- 3pm at 510 W. Martin St., Raleigh. Weekend hours are expected to start in January.
The intrigue: New York-style delis are becoming increasingly popular in the Triangle, home to many Northeastern transplants.
- Earlier this year, Brooklyn Pickle, a small deli chain based out of Syracuse, New York, opened in North Raleigh.
