Downtown Durham is getting the Triangle's next golf simulator bar.

  • State of Golf, a new company, said Wednesday it would open a bar in the American Tobacco Campus in May.

The big picture: As golf simulators have increased in popularity, so has building a bar around the experience of using them.

  • Already in Cary, the Albatross and X-Golf both offer drink-and-food service to customers who rent time playing their golf simulators.
  • And Topgolf, which does its own take on simulated golf, is opening soon near Research Triangle Park.

What's inside: What makes State of Golf different, however, is that it also plans to offer 30 additional simulated sports, including baseball and soccer, the company said in a release.

  • State of Golf will also have a full-service bar, featuring craft cocktails.
  • It doesn't plan to serve food, though it said it will allow guests to bring in outside food.
