How to find gas under $4 in the Valley

The biggest flex in Phoenix these days may be scoring gas for less than $4 per gallon.

The big picture: Oil prices, then gas prices, spiked following the U.S. and Israel's strikes on Iran late last month and have remained high as the war escalates.

Zoom in: The average price per gallon hit $4.59 in metro Phoenix on Monday, per AAA, but we found a handful of stations across the Valley charging just below $4.

According to GasBuddy, which uses customer submissions to track station prices, the Walmart Fuel Station at 35th and Southern avenues had the cheapest gallon of gas at $3.97 per gallon.

Clocking in at $3.99 were:

Quick Korner: 19th and Southern avenues, Phoenix
Sam's Club: Rio Salado Parkway and Smith Road, Tempe
Sam's Club: Gilbert Road and Houston Avenue, Gilbert
ARCO: Grand and 103rd avenues, Sun City
Marathon: Osborn Road and 20th Street, Phoenix
Marathon: Apache Trail and Ironwood Drive, Apache Junction
One Stop Drive Thru: Indian School Road and 67th Avenue, Phoenix

Caveat: Prices change often, so check GasBuddy's map for the latest deals.

Can we call 3.99 a deal?

The bottom line: Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday there are "no guarantees" when gas prices will fall.
