Pima County Sheriff's Department stars in A&E's "Desert Law"

What they're saying: "When the blistering Arizona sun finally sets over Tucson's Sonoran Desert, the temperature drops—and the crime rises," reads the show's description. "Immersed in the pressure and danger of policing the desert night, the series captures a world where the spirit of the Old West still lingers and the fight for order never ends."

• The show gained "elite access to one of the largest sheriff's departments in America," it continues.

Zoom in: Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Angelica Carrillo said in a statement to Axios that a U.K. production company approached the department about producing a show last spring, did a few ride-a-longs with officers, and submitted public records requests for body camera video and police reports.

• The company returned to Tucson to film last summer after A&E picked up the show for a 10-episode series, Carrillo said.

Reality check: Guthrie's disappearance will not be included in the show. Filming wrapped last year, and the show began airing Jan.7, three weeks before the 84-year-old disappeared.
