Cam Skattebo's electrifying rookie year with the New York Giants is reportedly over, but the legend will continue when he returns to the field next year.
Catch up quick: The former ASU star suffered a gruesome dislocation of his right ankle in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and underwent surgery that night, likely ending his season just eight games into his rookie campaign.
Previously, Skattebo had been a bright spot for the struggling Giants.
His seven total touchdowns and highlight-reel worthy runs made him an Offensive Rookie of the Year contender and fan favorite.
The intrigue: It's natural to be worried about a player's future after an injury, but we've learned from experience that you should never count Skattebo out.
He wasn't exactly a household name in college football when he started his senior year at ASU, but became the powerhouse who drove the Sun Devils' Cinderella run to the Big 12 championship and finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting.
Expectations coming out of college were low, and Skattebo wasn't picked until the fourth round of this year's NFL Draft.
