U.S. would join Arizona in rejecting Daylight Saving Time under Trump plan

• "Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our nation," he wrote. 
• The statement follows comments earlier this month by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, whom Trump picked to lead his new Department of Government Efficiency, promoting the idea of eliminating the twice-yearly time changes. 
• Legislation to make DST permanent passed the U.S. Senate but died in the House in 2022, and similar legislation stalled last year.

• The only part of the state that recognizes DST is the Navajo Nation, which includes parts of New Mexico and Utah as well. 
• Arizona and Hawaii are the only states that don't use DST. 
• U.S. territories including Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands observe permanent standard time. 

Why it matters: We may not have to change our clocks twice a year, but we have to keep everyone else's time changes in mind. 

• During DST, Arizona is on Pacific Time and three hours behind Eastern Standard Time. The rest of the year, we're on Mountain Standard Time, an hour ahead of the West Coast and two hours behind the East Coast.
