What are they building: Original ChopShop opening central Phoenix location

• Original ChopShop's website says the central Phoenix location will open sometime in 2025.
• The company touts itself as "Healthy Food Near Me" and its menu features items like grilled protein and "superfruit" bowls and parfaits, salads, juices and protein shakes.

Zoom out: ChopShop opened its first location in Scottsdale and was founded by Ryan and Caitlin Jocque, a couple who were "tired of eating Chipotle every day," CEO Jason Morgan told Restaurant Business Magazine.

• The chain, now owned by Houston-based Mac Haik Enterprises, has 22 locations in Arizona, Georgia and Texas.
• The central Phoenix spot will be the 11th in Arizona and 10th in the Valley.

Between the lines: Zoning documents filed with the city list the site as a future location of Colorado-based chicken chain Birdcall, which has three locations in the Valley.

• A public relations representative for the company confirmed that won't be a Birdcall location.
