Former Arizona Gov. Ducey backs Trump and Lake

Former Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced he will support former President Trump and U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake in this November's election.

Why it matters: The endorsement comes after Ducey, a Republican, spent the end of his governorship fighting with the MAGA wing of his party.

Flashback: Ducey famously ignored Trump's phone call as he was signing Arizona's election certification paperwork in 2020. Trump then posted on X (then Twitter): "What is going on with [Doug Ducey]? Republicans will long remember!"

Ducey supported Lake's opponent Karrin Taylor Robson in the 2022 GOP gubernatorial primary and said at the time Lake was "misleading voters" by claiming the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.

What they're saying: "Much is on the line this election year & I'm encouraging all eligible Arizonans to vote & prioritize the issues that most affect our state & nation," Ducey posted on X Tuesday.

"I will be voting for Republicans up & down the ballot in November — and both Donald Trump and Kari Lake have my endorsement."
