You still have time to say a proper farewell to Rúla Búla at its pop-up bar at ASU's Mountain America Stadium.
What's happening: The pop-up is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 10pm. Register for free tickets here.
- Rúla Búla owner Steve Goumas lent the bar, tables, pew seating, stained-glass window decorations and old-style Guinness signage to ASU for the event.
Zoom in: They're pouring Guinness and Harp on tap in addition to canned beer and mixed drinks. Plus, you can order the famous "Best of Phoenix" fish and chips and a handful of other Irish delicacies.
1 last performance: People Who Could Fly, a three-piece party band that once frequented Rúla Búla, will perform for the final pours of the pop-up Thursday from 7-10pm.
My husband and I stopped by over the weekend and were charmed by the heavy dose of nostalgia the event delivered.
- The prices are steep ($12 for a draft pour), but worth the opportunity to celebrate one of our favorite pubs with others who carry fond memories of the place.
- The event is on the Coca-Cola Sun Deck, which provides a unique overhead vantage point of the football field. Stop by the lobby on your way out to see the 1987 Rose Bowl trophy and other relics from brighter ASU football days.
