It's going to take something special to replace Rúla Búla — the beloved Mill Avenue Irish Pub that closed in 2021 — and restaurateur Julian Wright is betting big to pull it off.

What's happening: Wright plans to open two new concepts in the 1888 structure.

Devil's Hideaway: This bar and restaurant will double as an "adult playground," according to a sign posted to the building.

  • It will include an outdoor patio with a stage for bands and serve a variety of finger foods, including grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches — Wright's favorite childhood snack, Phoenix New Times reports.

Idle Hands: Customers will access this "enchanted cocktail bar" through a hidden hallway past the Devil's Hideaway kitchen. The French-style bar will feature high-end spirits and an absinthe program, per New Times.

Of note: Signage on the building says the concepts will open this fall, but Wright tells Axios Phoenix delays have pushed back the opening to February 2024.

Zoom in: Wright is the brains behind Pedal Haus Brewery, Sake Haus, Lucky's Indoor Outdoor and Kahvi Coffee.
