Catch a coaster — and a safari — at Six Flags Great Adventure

A message from: Six Flags Great Adventure

Spring break is around the corner, and summer isn't far behind — for families around Philly, that means one thing: it's time to get out and make some memories.
What you need to know: Six Flags Great Adventure is kicking off its Safari Spring Break Celebration on select dates from March 28 to April 12, giving Philly-area families a can't-miss destination this season.
- Six Flags Great Adventure is in the sweet spot between Philadelphia and New York City in Jackson, New Jersey — an easy drive for families across the region.
- For the best value, snag a 2026 Gold Pass for the price of Silver through April 5 and get access to more Six Flags parks and free parking all season long.
Why it's important: The Safari Spring Break Celebration is a chance to go beyond a typical theme park day, combining immersive animal experiences, live entertainment and the park's signature thrills into one visit.
The plan: Six Flags Great Adventure spans 520 acres, making it one of the largest amusement parks in the world.
- Add the 350 acres of Wild Safari next door and there's a full day — or a full season — of adventure for every kind of family.
🦁 For the whole family
The Safari Spring Break Celebration from March 28 to April 12 is a real draw this season, where you can:
- Get up close with animals during hands-on encounters.
- Hop on the Safari Off Road Adventure for a ride through the 350-acre Wild Safari, home to more than 1,200 animals from six continents, including elephants, rhinos, tigers, giraffes and lions.
- Catch immersive live entertainment designed for all ages.
🎢 For the thrill seekers
Six Flags Great Adventure's 13 world-class coasters put it among the most intense parks on the East Coast. Highlights include:
- The Flash: Vertical Velocity, North America's first super boomerang coaster that runs forward and backward through a 180-degree twisted drop and a zero-G roll at up to nearly 60 miles per hour.
- Nitro, a hypercoaster that sends riders up a 233-foot hill before a 215-foot drop at 80 miles per hour — on a clear day, the Philly skyline is visible from the top.
- El Toro, a 4,400-foot wooden coaster with a top speed of 70 miles per hour.
🍴For fueling the crew
The park's dining lineup is getting a standout new addition for 2026 with Best of the West Smokehouse, featuring house-smoked barbecue and hearty classics. Check out other favorites, including:
- Jersey Devil BBQ, featuring a signature Hog Burger (IYKYK), chopped brisket sandwiches, pulled porks and wings — washed down with cold beer from the adjacent Pine Barrels Beer Garden for guests 21+.
- Mama Flora's Cucina, home to pizza by the slice, cheesesteaks with fried onions and falafel gyros.
- Johnny Rockets, a classic diner experience with burgers, shakes and fries.
- Rita's Italian Ice, where you can get a perfect cooldown between coasters from a Philly-born brand.
💰Take note: For the best value, take advantage of the Spring Sale event through April 5 and snag the free upgrade to a Gold Pass for the price of a Silver pass ($70).
