Dems grow voter advantage over GOP in Pennsylvania

🧮 State of play: Dems saw a net change in their voter rolls grow by roughly 55,400 since the start of the year, per state data through Oct. 12.

• Meanwhile, Republicans have gone in the other direction — dipping by more than 7,400 registered voters.

📈 1 Philly thing: Democrats registered in the city grew by more than 15,200 voters.

The big picture: Democrats now outnumber Republicans 3.87 million to 3.63 million throughout the state.

• Overall, the state's voter rolls ticked up 1% this year to 9,026,328.

The intrigue: Independent voter registrations grew by at least 58,000.

• Independents in Pennsylvania — with registrations now at 1.51 million — are the swingiest of voters and have the potential to tip the election for either Dems or the GOP.

Between the lines: Net change doesn't reflect voter registration alone but also accounts for deaths, relocation and other factors.
