Stack's Bowers launches Philly treasure hunt for rare coins, cash prizes

Driving the news: The auction house is hiding certificates redeemable for collectible coins and currency at five of Philly's historic sites.

• The first clue will be unveiled Tuesday at 10am on the auction house's social media pages, with subsequent clues revealed daily at the same time.

New this year: Get ahead of those lollygaggers but signing up here for early access to the clues.

How it works: Participants must crack codes and solve riddles tied to Philly's history to track down the hidden certificates.

• Prizes include a 2011 five-coin set of American Silver Eagles, a 1934 $500 bill and the grand prize — a Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle worth about $3,500.

Zoom out: Stack's Bowers — which has a Center City storefront — has already held treasure hunts in Boston and New York this month, with another planned for Miami from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1.
